On completion of this course the participants will be able to enter, edit and combine text and other information, such as pictures and shapes, into a word processing document. They will be able to structure information and use Microsoft Word tools to format and edit their documents.


It is essential that participants have a working knowledge of the Windows operating system and a basic competency in the use of the keyboard.

Inserting borders and other graphic elements
Common keyboard shortcuts
Using print preview and printing documents

Creating Tables
Inserting and deleting rows and columns, adjusting column width

Formatting and Presenting Documents
Font style and size, colour, bold, underline and italic
Default settings for font style and paragraph formatting
Formatting paragraphs
Text alignment, bullets, numbering, line spacing, borders, shading, page numbering

Page layout
Creating letters
Page size, orientation, margins and page breaks
